I am a designer in the field of colour, materiality, textile and product
"Extremely meticulous, analytical, hands-on and having a great sense of responsibility.
My interests are for colour and elementary aspects and I have a passion for textile.
Various other materials and associated techniques make me curious. I am ambitious to master techniques to perfection, so that I have all the information to apply them in new applications. In addition, intuition and a methodical way of working ensure a strong balance in my creative process."
Rebekka Evers was born in 1994 and studied at Design Academy Eindhoven in the Man & Activity department. During these studies she did an internship at Studio Wieki Somers in Rotterdam and she followed Reboot!; a minor about colour, image and writing. The behaviour of colour, elementary aspects of graphic design, and the making of connections from the old towards new, formed the base of this course. Subsequently, she participated the Kikkerland x AS Adventure Design Challenge and presented Stick It. Her design received the title academic winner and eventually brought her and her design to New York during NYCxDESIGN.
In June 2018 she graduated with her two projects The Hidden Colour of Oak and Colour Blinds. Both projects involve a translation within the theme of colour into an application within the interior. Where one of the projects translates colour as a consequence of nature in three pieces of furniture, the other focusses on three fundamental properties of colour in context, executed in several woven panels.
Recently, she volunteered at MANAVA, a social enterprise in Cambodia where she used her skills and interest in craft to develop a jewelry collection from natural materials. Very soon she will be participating round II of Basketclub, an international digital group of designer. This project not only creates connections between makers but also provides a contemporary stage to the weaving craft.
