This course started with a trip to Florence and its surroundings and a focus on artists that belonged to a movement called Mannerism. Mannerism is noticed for its artificial (as opposed to naturalistic) qualities, psychic energy over physicality, ambiguous space and vivid colours. It emerged in a time where innovative human expression and gesture had reached near perfection and young artists needed to find new approaches and dimensions of meaning.

This course concentrates on colour and its theories, image and typography, on writing and various forms of print. Through various exercises with these media, we went through the procedure of design, editing and production and a visual and textual publication was developed together.
